Centaur Cycles & Scooters
Richard Meltz has been a scooter rider and motorcyclist since college (that would be when dinosaurs roamed the earth). He opened Centaur Cycles in 1980 as an independent motorcycle repair shop and has been serving Santa Fe ever since. He specialized in service for BMW aircooled twins and BMW K Bikes for many years. In 1999 Centaur Cycles became a dealer for Royal Enfield motorcycles. That was so much fun that in 2002 Richard branched out to carrying motorscooters.

In that same year, 2002, he opened New Urban Transport in Albuquerque, NM on Central Ave. New Urban Transport ran for 6 years as the first and best scooter store in Albuquerque. In December 2008 we closed New Urban Transport.
In 2003 Meg Meltz retired from her job as a computer geek with the State of New Mexico and came to work full time at Centaur Cycles & Scooters (we changed the name to indicate our new focus). Then we decided if we were going to be in business we needed a serious business location. So in 2006 we moved from the back street we had happily inhabited to our present location on Cerrillos Rd, Santa Fe's main street.

The name is Bond, James Bond.
"Sometimes I call him Terrible James
'Cos he says he likes me calling him names."
Thanks, A.A. Milne.

As you can see in this photo, they both are serious naturalists.
